Avon best Buys for August

These are my choice of best boys From Avon for August. I am also doing a give away on my Facebook page, please read on to find out more.

As you know, I’m an Avon representative. I have always loved Avon products and I enjoy selling them. I don’t do it in the usual way of posting brochures through doors though, I have to work from home promoting my online shop thanks to my disability. Anyone in the UK can purchase from my shop and postage is free if you spend £20, how great is that! My shop can be found here: https://www.avon.uk.com/store/AnneSweet/

I’m running a competition on my Avon Facebook page where you could win a fabulous Avon Far Away Rebel and Diva for her perfume set. Competition ends September 7th 2020

picture shows a glamorous woman holding a bottle of Avon perfume while leaning out of a pink car, there is also a bottle of perfume , body lotion and purse spray next to her. Avon August.
Far Away Rebel and Diva currently only £12 for the set.

Check my Facebook page to see how you can win this 3 piece set of Perfume, body lotion and a purse spray in the new Far Away Rebel and Diva range. You can buy all three for just £12 in the Avon August shop, it’s worth £21!

Avon August Favourites – Magix

I have been using Avon Magix for many years, it’s a fab skin lotion that is non greasy but helps to smooth and hide blemishes on days when you don’t want to wear full make up. You can even pop it on under your make-up for a smoother finish.

I am so excited that Magix have now added three extra product to their range. First up. Avon Magix Smoothing Primer. Currently available for just £5.50.

Picture shows a womans face and a purple tube of Avon Magix Primer, along the bottom is a line of women with different coloured faces.

Magix suits all skin types because it is colourless, but it helps to smooth the skin and fill pores, making a perfect base for your make up. Also, available are Magix Hydrating Primer which adds extra moisture for dry, dehydrated skin. And Magix Shine and Oil Control which is perfect for managing oily to combination skin.

Picture shows a blue tube of Avon Magix hydrating, and a pink tube of Avon Magix shine & oil control. At the right side of the picture is a woman's face.

Avon August Favourites, Cannabis Sativa Oil

Staying with the skin, this is Avon’s new Cannibis Sative Oil which is claimed to be a holy grail for sensitive skin. You can get a SPF30 Day cream which hydrates and protects from the sun. Also available is a hand and body balm, and a cleanser. You can find them here.

Bag Organiser

I don’t know about you but everytime I find a handbag I love it just becomes a bottomless pit. This bag organiser is a dream come true, there are so many pockets and compartments. You can keep everything in it’s place and then pop it inside your favourite bag…and the best bit, when you want to change bags, just take out the organiser and put it in your chosen bag.

All this for only £10! Your Organised Hero

Cooling Pillow

I love this cooling pillow, it really is a must have. I pop it in the fridge and when I get a headache I reach for my cooling pad and it helps me so much. With the hot weather we have been having lately, my cooling pad has had plenty of use, on my head and my neck. At night, I give a chill just before going to bed and pop it inside my pillow. You can also pop it in it’s little pouch and take it out with you. It’s amazing, and I’m thinking of buying another for my daughter especially now it’s half price at only £5. I’m thinking this is going to sell out quickly.

Avon August buys, Setting Spray

We are all getting used to wearing our masks when we go out. Avon sell some fabulous make up products, Power Stay, that stay on 24 hours and don’t rub off on your mask..check them out.

However, if you don’t want to replace your make up, how about a setting spray, or even a powder. Avon do two very good products. Magix setting spray holds your make up in place with it’s invisible fix. And the very popular Banana powder sets your look with a light diffusing finishing powder. (also available is a translucent setting powder.)

Avon August Thanks

Thank you for taking a look at my products. Which would you like to own? Tell me on my Facebook page and I’ll enter you into my give away for the Avon Far Away Rebel and Diva gift set. Good luck!

I couldn’t resist popping back to Love Light and Harmony for another bracelet and was thrilled to find this gorgeous lapis lazuli and rose quartz one with a delightful angel wing charm. I’m wearing it all the time.

I also bought this lovely, and so unique, pendant necklace made with wood and resin, from 358 Walking Sticks

For the Cat

I decided to treat Ash to a new collar and figured he’d look pretty cool in this camo one from Muttley and Martha

I’ll put it on him if I can keep him still long enough!!

For the Home

I say, for the home, but it’s for me really. I’m really get back into crystals again. I have a collection dating back nearly 30 years. When Boo showed an interest in crystals recently, she was astonished to see how many I had stashed away. What I really want is a lovely bowl to display some in on my coffee table, but I’ve not found the right one yet. But while I was looking I came across is gorgeous blue agate tea light holder from Empowered Crystals.

Crochet Animal Crossing

My girls love Animal Crossing and I was delighted to find this adorable pattern for Celeste from Kittens and Mittens.

Of course, after downloading the pattern I also had to buy the wool from Handmade By Mary Port.

I promise to let you know how I get one with making this.

My Favourite Etsy Shops

Today I would like to share with you my favourite Etsy Shops. We all have different tastes and maybe this will give you a little more insight into me and the things I like. I am an Etsy affiliate which means my links may earn me commission if you click through and buy something. It won’t cost you any more though, isn’t that great? I love being an Etsy Affiliate, it’s a wonderful magical place of things to find and there is something for everyone. Most of it is home made and by using Etsy you are supporting small businesses which is a lovely thing to do, especially in these difficult times.

So, let me share with you some Etsy Magic.

Here are my current favourite shops on Etsy, I’m adding to them all the time. I also have favourite lists of items. It’s good to be able to keep the things your love in places easy to find.

Jewellery

When I was 12 years old my Mum bought me a silver necklace for my birthday. I remember it was a Dusty Bin necklace from the gameshow 321 which I loved. I wish I’d kept it, I bet they are pretty rare now! It started my love of jewellery, I had my ears pierced when I was 13 and since then I’ve collected a lot of lovely items. I do love handmade jewellery though, especially things made with glass or crystals. Here are a few of my favourites.

Turquoise Tree of Life Pendant

Glass Butterfly Pendant

Leaf Ear rings

Crystals

I love crystals and I have been collecting them for 30 years! Here are a few Crystal Items I’ve added to my favourite things.

Bracelet

I already have bracelets from Love Light and Harmony but I definitely wish to add to my collection.

Crystal Tree in Rose Quartz and Carnelian

Gemstone Bowls

Candle Holders

I love candles, but I also love the adorable candle holders you can buy on Etsy.

I hope I have given you some inspiration and encouraged you to pop on over to Etsy to see what you can find.

Stuck at Home?

With the dreaded COVID-19 (Corona Virus) infecting so many of us, staying at home is the best option if possible. While you are keeping away from the crowds maybe you are wondering what you can do while you are isolated. Here are a few suggestions of mine. Including affiliate links of course. Remember, clicking these links will cost you no extra, but if you purchase I may earn a little money from them. So thank you in advance.

flowers and gin for mother's day
Roses and Gin gift set for Mother’s Day (or any day!)

Easter

Easter is usually my favourite holiday of the year, two weeks of no school, lots of chocolate and loads of fresh spring air. It’s not going to feel the same this year, but at least we are lucky enough to have a garden. We don’t have to go without chocolate too, we can always buy our eggs online from the Cadbury Gift Shop.

easter eggs

You can also order a chocolate Mother’s Day gift if you get your order in by 4pm on Saturday 21st March. See my post on Cadbury’s Mother’s Day gifts for inspiration.

You can also buy Mother’s day gifts and Easter Eggs from Thorntons. There is no need to risk the shops. Thorntons have 2 for £12 and 5 for £25 offer on their eggs.

School Closures

With most kids out of school for the foreseable future parents will be wondering what to do with them. Of course their education is important, and so is keeping their minds active and ready for when they finally go back to school.

Twinkl is a resource I have used in the past and they provide some fantastic learning resources. Why not pop on over and see what Twinkl have on offer for Kid’s out of school, and a lot of their resources are free!

Edplace is another educational site that offers learning for children of all ages. It can be expensive for some, but you can get a £1 trial to see if it’s worth it for your child.

Books

Books are going to be more important than ever now, we have agreed as a family to have a reading time each day. I’m not going to force the literature on them but let them choose what they like. We have lots of books already but Waterstones is generally our go to bookstore, the variety is amazing.

If you fancy your chances of winning an educational book on The Plastic Problem, I am giving two copies away currently on my other blog. I’m hoping postal services won’t be affected but they seem to be okay for now.

Other Activities

I’m a huge fan of crochet so I’m stocking up on my wool stash and hoping to get a lot of works in progress finished. My go to wool store is Deramores They currently have some fabulous sales up to 30% off, and I’m thinking of joining in with their Easter Crochet along. I really enjoyed the Christmas one.

The kids are all keen to learn something new while they are off school. We haven’t decided yet what this will be, but it should be fun.

Remember, if you are not sick you can go out, just keep away from other people who may be sick, even if they don’t look it. There are plenty of wide open spaces to explore. Get some fresh air and enjoy a walk.

What will you be doing?

Weekly Meal Plan

Last Weeks Plan and what was Eaten

Last weeks meal plan went okay although we may have swapped the days around. Thats not a problem though, so long as the meals get eaten and I don’t have to fork out on Take Outs…Yay, we managed no take out’s last week. With our holiday looming closer I’m looking to saving as much as possible and take outs for 7 are not cheap!

This week I have to budget in kids lunches, we’ve had a talk about this and some of the things we have come up with are, chicken dippers, fish fingers, pasta, noodles, enchiladas and savoury pancakes. Not a bad start, I’ll see how we get on. I’m treating them to a chip shop lunch tomorrow as I will be in hospital all day and their Dad is taking them to visit his mum. Our evening meal will have to be quick and easy because I can’t do much when I get home from hospital, so it’s probably going to be pizza.

This Weeks Meal Plan

  • Saturday – Curry, rice and poppadoms
  • Sunday – Meatballs and spaghetti
  • Monday – Pizza
  • Tuesday – Peri Peri Chicken (from a kit in our Degustabox)
  • Wednesday – Tacos
  • Thursday – pasta bake
  • Friday – Fish and Chips

The Peri Peri Chicken is a 3 stage cooking kit from Simply Cook which we had in last weeks Degustabox. It looks quite interesting but I doubt I would buy it again unless it became available in my regular supermarkets. I guess we’ll see how it goes. I do like the Nando’s peri per sauce though.

I’m not sure what kind of pasta bake I will do yet. I need to finish my shopping first so I’ll be looking for inspiration.

Next Saturday is Boo’s birthday and she’s having some friends over for a tea party. I’m hoping to extend the food into something we can all have for dinner. My older kid’s complain about party food, just like they do about BBQs saying it’s not enough and doesn’t feel like a real meal! I believe we eat twice as much as we normally would. I mean when would you ever dish up a burger meal with more than two burgers, a hot dog, a kebab stick, corn on the cob and salad? (which is the average amount eaten by them at a BBQ)

I can’t wait to read what everyone else is cooking this week on Katy’s link up.

My New Venture – I’m an Avon Representative

I was an Avon representative in my old area. I loved it. I would take the kids out with my books packed in a bag on the bag of the Little Man’s pram and the girls would happily help me post my books. I had a lovely set of customers that I visited regularly.

Then we moved house and I didn’t take my business with me, I just gave up on it. My new home was in a building site and I didn’t think it was the right place to start canvassing.

Starting Again

The other day a lady knocked on my door and I decided to sign up with Avon again. What was I thinking, I can’t even walk now and I don’t get very far visiting houses in my wheelchair without help. But: you can now take orders online from any area and the good can be posted direct to the customer.

So, I have my very own Avon Website with an online shop.

Please do take a look if you have a moment, it would make me really happy if you placed an order. Delivery to your home is £3.50 and free if you order over £30…but look out for special offers too. At the moment, if you order before 18th July you can get your delivery for free when you spend just £20. Also, if you buy 3 Skin So Soft Dry Oil items you can get free delivery with the code DRYOIL.

Facebook

I also have my own Facebook Page which anyone can join. Please do as I hope to bring you lots of interesting tips and ideas as well as competitions and giveaways!

It’s so great that you can take orders from absolutely anywhere in the UK now. When I was a representative before I could only take orders from people I could deliver too physically. Of course if you are local I can still do that, and I will be. The neighbours all have brochures through their door that my husband will collect for me.

Avon.

Of course, I wouldn’t be working for Avon if I didn’t believe in their products. I’m not a great make-up user but the little make up I have is from Avon and I’m really please with it. I do try to look after my skin, so moisturers and masks are a favourite of mine. I love the Skin So Soft Dry Oil collection and it has so many benefits. The perfumes are pretty special too. I can get samples of perfumes if anyone wants to smell before they buy. (If you would like a sample then please let me know in a message on my Facebook Page.)

They also do a great selection of hairbrushes. We have had ours for years and it’s time for some new ones. They also do vegan make-up brushes!

The shower gels are amazing, and as cheap or cheaper than the other brands. They also do some nice bubble bath.

shower gel and bubble bath from Avon

You can also buy things for the home like storage boxes, diffusers, candles and even lunch boxes to name just a few.

Avon home, candle, diffuser, storage boxes and lunch box and cup

Avon also sell clothing and have some great ranges to suit anyone, including shoes and pyjamas.

If accessorising is your thing then Avon also do a jewellery range and selection bags and scarfs and sunglasses.

collage of Avon accessories, sunglasses, necklace, bag and watches

With Summer upon us, don’t forget to stock up on your suncream and after sun lotion.

How Can You Help?

I’d love some support with my new venture, maybe you’d like to order something, or even just sign up to my Facebook Page. Or, share my page with your friends. I’d be most grateful as I’d really like this to work. Thank you in advance x

“Reflections
A Place to Eat

Weekly Meal Plan

Meal Planning

I haven’t done a meal plan here in a little while because I was doing it on Monday after the shopping had arrived and it seemed disadvantageous. I do my weekly shop online on Sunday, so now I’m planning earlier so I know what I want to buy, rather than what I’m going to cook with what I’ve bought. It’s not rocket science really is it!

This Weeks Plan

  • Monday – Mediterranean fish and new potatoes
  • Tuesday – Turkey Meatballs and spaghetti
  • Wednesday – Hot Dog Rolls and fries
  • Thursday – Pasta bake
  • Friday – Fish and chips
  • Saturday – Curry
  • Sunday – Chicken roast

The fish on Monday is a pre-prepared one. Graham will need a chicken alternative due to his fish and seafood allergy

The Turkey meatballs we buy ready made and I make a lovely tomato based sauce for them. I don’t eat spaghetti (yes, even I’m a pain sometimes) so I’ll have mine with pasta instead.

Quick recipe – Hot Dog Rolls

Hot Dog rolls are surprisingly delicious. I buy frankfurter sausages and ready made puff pastry. Roll out the pastry and cut it into strips just a little longer and just over twice as wide as the sausages. The put the sausage in the middle and smear with mustard and tomato ketchup (or whatever relish you prefer.) Then I slit the pasty on either side of the sausage at slight angles kind of like wings on each side. Then brush with egg wash and fold the sides alternately. Or you can just wrap them up like sausage rolls. Brush the tops with egg wash and bake until puffed and golden (About 15 to 20 minutes.)

Young’s Frozen fish is our favourite brand. We have found that beer battered fish is less soggy when baked. If you want a fish without a soggy bottom then I’ve found getting it out of the freezer 10 minutes before cooking works best.

Curry on Saturday will be from a jar, we are currently trying all brands to find our favourite.

The Sunday Roast is not a family favourite, so I’ll provide some pasta dishes for those that complain.

Shopping

We actually went to the supermarket last week, and still have some food left that will help with this weeks shop. I will be back to shopping online this week though.

One thing I picked up which I wouldn’t normally buy is cold teabags. Now I have to drink a lot of water because of my treatment and I get fed up of plain water. So, I thought I’d try something different. These are okay, a little less stronger than squash and they gave you the sort of flavour you’d expect from a bottle of still flavoured water. They were a bit more expensive but I found I could leave the ‘teabag’ in and keep refilling my bottle and the flavour lasted for about four 500ml bottles, so better value in the end.

Fingers crossed it all goes to plan this week.
