My Review of the Couple at No 9 by Claire Douglas
I really enjoyed this book, it was full of excitement from the beginning. The characters where well fleshed out and the descriptions brought the book alive without being too lengthy.
The chapters are divided by which character you are focusing on but it’s not over complicated. I listened on audio book so there were different voices which helped.
The main characters are Saffy and her mum Lorna. And another character is introduced as Theo. They are all in the present time, but Rose, Lorna’s mum and Saffy’s grandmother has dementia so her story is presented in the past, when Lorna was a toddler.
We begin with the bodies found in the garden of Saffy’s cottage that she shares with her husband Tom. The cottage belonged to her grandmother, Rose, who was in a care home with dementia, but she hadn’t lived there for many years.
The story unfolds with lots of twists and turns both in the present time and in the past. There are some dark themes in the story as we slowly begin to find out the truth about the bodies and what happened.
It was one of those stories that you just had to keep reading (or in my case listening) to, it was great at keeping you guessing and making you want to find out more.
I will definitely read some more of Claire Douglas, this was a good thriller, not too over the top with a satisfying conclusion.

This sounds like another book to add to my list of one’s to listen to. I like books that keep you guessing without being too over the top!
This definitely sounds like my cup of tea! I enjoyed the Claire Douglas I read recently and decided I needed to read more of her books.
