Do you like doing crafts? I have tried many. I once went all out on card making, I bought myself the blank cards and envelopes, a die cutting machine, stamps, pens embellishments and I made 2 cards before I realised it just wasn’t my thing. I did enjoy it but it took up so much space. Being disabled it was difficult even cleaning up let alone making them. So, no, not for me.
I started to do crochet and picked it up easily. I made cats for my girls and a big dragon hat for my nephew, I made dozens of scarves and blankets in all sorts of stitches and sizes. I made hats and even had a go at amigurumi which is everything in smaller sizes (basically.) I still crochet occasionally but my hands hurt a lot now.
Doing something crafty does help you feel relaxed (not card making, that made me very stressed and oh the mess!) And I loved doing crafts with my kids. Just take a look on my other blog a lot of my earlier posts I’m doing crafts with my kids, like this space craft with my son, or even these cute bugs crafts.
Adults Can Craft Too!
The Craftiosity box offers a different craft every month so you can do different crafts and maybe find something you love. I made this mirror with my box, it’s not brilliant but it was an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours and I like working with Fimo.

At the moment you can join Craftiosity with a discount code LOVECRAFTING15 for 15% off your first box, but hurry there’s only a few days left. You could get this lovely pin cushion.
Do you like to craft? What’s your favourite past time?
I have mentioned a craft box subscription in this post which is an affiliate link, if you click on it and go on to purchase something, I may earn a little money at no extra cost to you. Thank you for your support of my little blog.

I really enjoyed reading your post about taking a time out with crafts. Your honest reflection on trying different creative hobbies — from card making to crochet — gives a refreshing and relatable perspective on finding what truly brings joy and relaxation. It’s inspiring to see how you embraced crafting with your kids and found ways to make it meaningful rather than perfect.
I love how honest and relatable your craft journey is! It’s a reminder that crafting isn’t about perfection, but about joy and experimentation. Your switch to crochet and creative projects with the kids shows that finding what truly fits your pace and space can make all the difference. Inspiring and heartwarming read!
This was such a relatable and honest reflection on crafting as a pastime. I really appreciated how you highlighted both the joy and the challenges—especially the part about trying different crafts and discovering what truly works for you. Your experience with crochet and creating meaningful items for family adds a lovely personal touch. It’s also refreshing to see the emphasis on how crafts can support relaxation and mindfulness, even if not every activity brings that same sense of calm.
