I set myself a challenge on Goodreads of 24 books. That’s two books a month which is about my average. I ended up reading 25 and I’m a few pages off my 26 and I’m happy with that.

I know it’s not as many as some. I honestly don’t read that fast. Well, I know I can but I tend to fall asleep a lot. I mean, if I want a nap the first thing I do is pick up a book. It doesn’t matter how good it is, I will fall asleep. I’ve developed this weird ‘talent’ of continuing the story in my sleep. Then I wake up and don’t understand why it reads differently to how I’ve imagined it.
Now you are probably thinking I’m crazy!
So, what was my favourite book of 2025, now that is hard. I think I’d have to go with Richard Osman’s, The Impossible Fortune but I think that’s mostly because I love the Thursday Murder club series and this was really anticipated. But, I’ve read some really interesting books this year.
I loved The Household by Stacey Halls, but I also loved Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt and The List of Suspicious Things by Jennie Godfrey.
Some of the darker books I’ve read are Never Lie by Frieda Mc Fadden, The Boyfriend by Freida Mc Fadden, Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney, Nothing to See Here by Susan Lewis and The Murder After the Night Before by Katy Brent.
I’ve been to book clubs and read books that I wouldn’t normally choose like; The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden, The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune and Heartless Hunter by Kristen Ciccerelli and Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. Some I’ve enjoyed more than others but it’s been interesting reading other books and sharing my thoughts with others.
In 2026 I think I might try a little more Science Fiction. I enjoyed The Other Valley by Scott Alexander Howard. I’m thinking of reading some Martha Wells.
I’m always open to new ideas though and I get a lot of book recommendations from my own Book Worms book club link up. New one due on January 1st.
The highest Rated Book that I’ve read on Goodreads is Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. I found it a real good read too and would definitely read it again and I don’t say that a lot about books.
One of the most popular books that I have read according to Goodreads is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Which is not a book I would have automatically gone for but I did really enjoy.

It sounds like you’ve read a good variety of books in 2025. I love that I’ve read and enjoyed all your top four books! The List of Suspicious Things and The Impossible Fortune were definitely two of my favourites for 2025 too.
