I do Blogtober every year and I often split it across my two blogs, the other one being Raisiebay where you can find my previous posts for this year. However, today’s prompt on Seasonal Self Care felt better suited to this blog.
Self Care that’s not Just Bubble Baths
The theme for this prompt has a sub title of not just bubble baths. We all think straight away of washing away those cares in a bubble bath with candles and fragrances. I wish, the last time I had a bath was the day I ended up so sick that I was in hospital for two weeks (it wasn’t anything to do with the bath) but I could never get in the bath again because of my physical issues. I now have a wet room full of aids.
Positivity
It’s difficult to feel positivity as the days get darker and colder but we can make our own positivity and we can invest in our personal happiness. Think of things that can improve your personal positivity, maybe a hair cut or change of hair colour? Or start a new positive routine each morning just to keep you going. Tell yourself every morning in the mirror that you are going to have a great day and smile, and most importantly, believe it!
Gift Yourself
Feeling the pinch because of the thought of Christmas being around the corner and counting the paydays? Stop for a moment and treat yourself. It doesn’t have to cost much, treat yourself to a day window shopping, or a coffee with a friend. These are things we don’t think of gifts but when you are disabled, like me, they really are a treat.
Or you could treat yourself to something you’ve always wanted that’s affordable? Go on gift yourself, it won’t hurt.
Time
Time is short, we are not here long so time well spent is what we all need every now and then. This could be something simple like an hour alone just relaxing, take that nap if you want to, the washing can wait. Or make time to watch a movie without feeling guilty. So many of us are rushing around all the time we don’t have the time to do the simple things. Make a really nice meal and enjoy it with your partner or friend. Take your time and enjoy every moment.
Spend some time with someone you haven’t seen for a while, you could be making their day as well as leaving you with a good feeling. Looking after others can also be a form of self care.
Routine
We often have routines for work, the kids, the cooking, the cleaning. How about a routine of self care. Write a list of what your routine of self care would look like and stick to it.
Currently my self care routine looks like this:
- read some of my book
- do some writing
- take my medication
- remember to eat
- take a nap
- watch some television
There you go! Not exciting, but it’s relaxing and it’s for me, it’s my self care. Of course I still fit in the housework, washing, cleaning, sorting, finances, looking after everyone else, cooking etc etc.
I have some self care products in my online shop, limited stock as I’m closing down, but that also means some super low prices too.

I have found it is the little things that do help with our self care, even if it is giving yourself time to sit and enjoy a hot drink
