This is the book for my book club which is early February. I’m hoping I can make it as I have a really busy couple of weeks coming up. The Murder after The Night Before is a thriller so one of my favourite genres. Before my review here’s the details.
The Murder After the Night Before
Something bad happened last night. My best friend Posey is dead. The police think it was a tragic accident. I know she was murdered.
I’ve woken up with the hangover from hell, a stranger in my bed, and I’ve gone viral for the worst reasons.
There’s only one thing stopping me from dying of shame. I need to find a killer.
But after last night, I can’t remember a thing…
My Review of The Murder After The Night Before
Imagine waking up with a stranger in your bed and not knowing what happened before. This is how Molly finds herself after the work Christmas party. The stranger introduces himself as Jack and they are both fully dressed.
After Jack leaves, Molly checks on her flatmate and finds her dead in what looks like a tragic accident.
The whole story has a bit of a ‘Bridget Jones’ feel if you remember the first Bridget Jones books (am I really that old!) It’s not written in a diary form but it does have Twitter Quotes. How times change.
What I’m trying to say is that even though the story is quite dark at times and it’s a pretty good whodunnit, it’s also a bit ditsy and you wonder what the heck Molly is up to. I can’t understand why she trusts and continues to see Jack. That bit was a bit too much for me. He is vital to the story but her trust in him comes from nowhere. But then I guess it also helps to lead you the wrong conclusions of what happened.
There are many twists and although it’s an easy read and a definite page turner. It has made me put Katy Brent’s other book, How to Kill Men and get Away with it on my TBR pile.
