I decided to read The Silent Patient after reading Alex Michaelides latest book, The Fury, earlier this month.
The Blurb
Alicia Berenson lived a seemingly perfect life until one day six years ago.
When she shot her husband in the head five times.
Since then she hasn’t spoken a single word.
It’s time to find out why.
My Review of The Silent Patient
I listened to this on audible and although it’s a relatively short book I couldn’t stop listening and I was finished in two days. I really enjoyed the complexity of The Fury and the intriguing twist at the end, so I was looking forward to reading this.
My first comment is that it is a lot less complex than The Fury and much easier to follow. The narrator is a psycho-therapist and the patient is silent except for her diary entries.
It’s hard not to give anything away but the book focuses on the complexity of relationships, trust and mistrust. It also touches on how the trauma’s of childhood experiences shape a person.
I listened on Audible and the narrators were pretty good although probably a little younger than you would expect them to be. It was easy to listen to and hard to stop listening.
The plot is complex but the clues are strewn throughout. I had some idea of what was going to happen but the truth was quite shocking all the same. I think I’m quite a fan of Alex Michaelides and may read his other book (although the blurb doesn’t sound as intriguing.) I would definitely be interested to see what he comes with next.
If you like a good thriller with lots of twists then you’ll enjoy this. Not as complicated as the Fury but still a really good read.
I couldn’t put tis book down – such an unexpected twist!

I love the sound of this. It sounds like it’s one to keep you hooked, wanting to know how it ends.
This book was quite compelling, very different for me but I’ll certainly search out the author again.

I like the sound of this one. I don’t think I’ve read any books by this author. xx
`I love a good page turner, but as a physical page turner. I’ve tried audible books, but I lose focus. Thanks for linking up with #pocolo
I like the sound of this! I’ve heard of it before and think it’s quite a popular book, but I’ve never known what it was about.
I’ve never read anything by this author but the premise for this one sounds the most intriguing to me out of the ones I’ve heard of! Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
